We are sorry to report that Ed Yanchok, #35-14283, died on Saturday March 30, 2019. Ed was the quintessential trap shooter who, over the years won a wide variety of awards. One of his most unique accomplishments was in 2005 when he won a raffle to determine the last squad to shoot at the end of the Grand American at the ATA home grounds in Vandalia, Ohio. He was on Post 5 and when the last registered bird to ever be thrown there was launched, he smoked it (see photo). Talk about pressure. He served the New Jersey State Trapshooting Association in various capacities over the years. He served as President in 1984-1985, was elected Alternate Delegate in 1986 and in 1987 shooters elected him ATA State Delegate, a position he held until 2003. In his trapshooting career he shot at a total of 556,325 registered targets: 330,400 Singles, 111,675 Handicap and 114,250 Doubles. Beyond the awards and offices he held, Ed will be remembered most for the friendship and encouragement that he freely gave to all trap shooters. It didn't matter who you were; young or old, new shooter or AAA-27-AAA you could always talk to Ed. You could not ask for a better friend than Ed Yanchok. He will be missed by one and all.
